I tried paydotcom.com but they do not have normal lifestyle magazines. I want magazines which talk about relationships, fashion etc. I have tried looking for an affiliate program with such to no avail.

You might want to try ShareASale. They have a few magazines affiliate programs.

My humble request to yahoo to start affiliate program like Google Adsense all over the world (including India) Yahoo gaining popularity and ranking very high all over the world. I request yahoo to start affiliate program individually not combined with Commission junction.
If yahoo starts affiliate program I am the first person happy about it.

I am planning to start a travel site. That includes best hotels, travel agents, recreation places etc in a city. I would like to know is there any way to earn from affiliates for hotels and travels. Is there any common site which has all hotels in the city and give commission if someone book hotel/tickets from our site?

You must have good traffic to your site, and once you get good number of visitors, big hotels will automatically contact you through email to advertise about the hotels in your site and you can earn commission as an affiliate.

You can cloak your links to look like:
www.yourdomain.com/productname.htm
instead of the long ugly affiliate links.

For free affiliate cloaking tool, you can search online for Profit Protector.

Let’s say, you’re selling something for $1000 and giving $400 commission per item to each affiliate (40% commission).

What if people who want to buy your product are smart enough to sign up as your affiliate, buy the product, pay $1000 and get $400 back, thereby ending up paying only $600 nett.

Wouldn’t it spoil the whole affiliate marketing structure?

In your example, you are only going to get $600 in either case. You are always going to be "losing" the $400 as a selling fee to your affiliate. So you have to price your product so that $600 is enuf for you to make a profit and stay in business.

You have hit upon the weakest part of the "affiliate" business model. If you can cut out the middleman, you can save a lot of money. In the 1950’s everything went thru "wholesalers". Now they hardly exist.

I am in negotiated contracts with Link Share. However I hear that they favor larger companies. Mine is very small. Commission Junction just seems to be so expensive to start. Someone suggested Shareasale.com Something is getting me worried about throwing away money for the start up and reserve funds. I always trusted answers from the Yahoo answers community so I thought I would get your opinion.

The easiest affiliate network to get yourself signed up with is ClickBank. They are very reliable and support a bi-weekly direct deposit.

With regards to the best affiliate program it comes down to how well the product vendor takes care of their affiliates. Most affiliate programs just offer you an affiliate link and that’s it. The better ones provide you with pre-written articles, pre-written Email templates brandable eBooks, advice on how to hide your affiliate links and so on.

A good example of this is the TattooFever affiliate program which is under ClickBank’s affiliate network.

to join yahoo hosting affiliate program one should be a commission junction member. But through commission junction when i try to apply for this affiliate program it is rejected by advertiser and the reasons unknown. I would like to know the reason and to know how to join this affiliate program
