How do I start my own internet business?

Saturday Feb 27, 2010

I am completely new at starting my own business. I want to start selling items off the internet. What is some good information that can help me start my own business? Do I need the go to business course in college or get a license?

You don’t NEED to take business classes, but if you want to begin a business, I really recommend taking at least one business class at the local community college. That way, you can know the negatives and positives of business and get some background on the process of owning a business.

To have a legitimate business, you need AT LEAST these 4 things.
1. DBA (doing business as) or FBN (fictitious business name)- so that you don’t need to do business under your name. Then you will need to get it printed in the local newspaper for 4 consecutive weeks.
2. EIN (employee id number)- so that you do not need to use your own social security number.
3. Seller’s Permit/ Tax ID- so that you can purchase wholesale and your state can collect their tax.
4. Business license
(all in that order).

Get your domain (www.yourname.com). You can get this from godaddy.com for $10 a year.

Getting the actual website will be the hardest part. You have three options.
1. Make it yourself.
2. Use a premade template.
3. Hire a designer.

I highly suggest hiring a designer. This is why:
1. Unless you know html coding, it will be nearly impossible to create your own website.
2. Templates are not very customizable.
3. Templates may end up looking unprofessional.
Those are the reasons I can think of off the top of my head. I’m sure there are many other reasons.
Hiring a designer has its positives.
For one, you will be working with a professional! This person will hopefully work with you until the site is up to your standards. A designer will give the site a more professional and unique feel, etc.
Finding a designer is a very difficult process.
If you aren’t any good with codes, make sure that the designer offers an admin spot where you can easily update the site with out coding knowledge.
Its always great when the shopping cart is included in the one time fee. Most shopping carts are about $30 a month and increase as you add more products to your site.
It ends up getting ridiculous!! Some designers offer you a one time fee for the use of their shopping cart.
Then, you will need a web host. Some designers will recommend a site for you to use. In any case, you should always check with the designer before choosing a host, because some hosting services do not work well with the shopping cart your designer provides.

You will also need a merchant account to accept payment from customers.
You can use a place such as authorize.net or Paypal (which no longers requires that customers make an account and accepts credit cards).

Of course, you will need to think of what products you will be selling.
Where will you get them?
Who is your target market?
What is your price range?
etc.

Good Luck!!!

What legal steps do I have to do when opening an internet business?

Friday Jan 8, 2010

I am currently living in Mexico but I am an American citizen. I am currently working on an information website that I hope to make a few bucks here or there with advertisement. I do not want to register my business in Mexico. What do I have to do to make my internet business legal in the states?

Any information will be greatly appreciated!

What type of internet business are you running? E-commerce? Affiliation? Internet Marketing?

Of course the best course would be to go through a lawyer not only to give you legal advice but to prepare the proper documentation.

Otherwise, you’ll need a disclaimer page, privacy policy page, and have your website copyrighted. You may also need to submit an EIN number for tax purposes (many times you only need your ss), sales permit, and/or business permit depending on what state you live in.

Hope this helps

What does it take to start an Internet business and grow it into a multimillion pound company?

Tuesday Jan 5, 2010

I want to know what it takes to start an Internet based business small from, say, a back bedroom, and grow it into a multimillion pound company with offices all over, i.e. in terms of cost to start the company and how you would go about building it into a strong business?

It needs to be a product that people have a track record of buying, that you are able to reach those buyers easily and that has lots of repeat business and referral potential.

It can cost a very small amount to set up the back bedroom operation - computer with internet connection and a domain name with web hosting.

If you’re running it as an internet business do you really need lots of offices? It may be more viable to outsource some things and do the rest from your "headquarters".

The first thing to do is your research into your potential market and then to put together a plan for how you’re going to run the business.

Good luck!

What is the easiest to attain, the most profitable Internet business one can start today? any ideas?

Thursday Dec 24, 2009

We feel that almost everything has been thought off on the Internet…it is almost like "internet business anxiety"

Hi,
Yes, you can make money as an online Affiliate Marketer. I’m making money online as we speak. Have started Affiliate Marketing earlier this year in March. I was making about $100 to $200 per week. Then as I learn from other Super Affiliate Marketers out there…I started making more. As of August 2009, I’m earning over $1,000 / week as an Affiliate Marketer. The learning curve is different for each person, but if you take the time to learn about affiliate marketing, then the rewards will be there for you.
The best way of making money online without spending a lot money is to be an Affiliate Marketer. You don’t need a website nor do you need any products. As an affiliate marketer you will market products for various companies that will pay you a commission for selling their products. (Commission is usually from 50% to 75%). So you don’t need a website; you don’t have to call anyone to sell them a product; you don’t need to join any mlm; You just need to refer people to the site of their interests and earn a commission.
Where do you learn all about these products? Check out www.clickbank.com . This is a market place to find vendors who are looking for affiliates to market their products. It costs nothing to sign up with them and nothing to start.
There are so many online methods you can use to drive traffic to these various sites you are promoting. Some of these methods include: blogging, Pay Per Click (PPC), Article Writing, eMail Marketing, and much more. To learn more about these methods, I recommend the beginners to learn from experienced Affiliate Marketers such as Ewen Chia, Michael Jones, Mack Michaels, Bobby Walker, Adell Chowdhry, and Kris Trujillo. These are some of the true Affiliate Marketers out there with great success.
Only down side is cost of advertising and getting the words out. However, this is the only type of business where you can start part time and one day earn as much as your FT job. FYI..,I started this part time 6 months ago and within 6 months..I’m earning more PT then my regular FT job. Crazy..,but true, How much you put into, you’ll get out of it as well.
In addition, I also recommend learning from the Super Affiliate Marketers out there that can eliminate your time and efforts by teaching you how to market products for free and the various methods that are available for you to use. You can find more information on Affiliate Marketing at www.Super-Affiliates-Club.com.
Save yourself time and invest in yourself and learn and you’ll soon make money online. You can start making $100 to $200/day within the next 3 days, but you have to start today and learn. It can be frustrating, but the learning curve is shorter when you learn from an Affiliate Marketer guru. Yes..you can start even today after reading this post. It sounds crazy, but it’s all true.
Here’s my recommended steps to online success — 1) Learn from an Affiliate Marketer 2) go to ClickBank.com and find a product to promote. Very easy, but takes a little effort to learn the secrets of the gurus.

Good Luck,
Tony

What free internet site to start your own internet business and lots of traffic? Thanks?

Friday Nov 13, 2009

Which internet site is free to start your own business and is easy to fill out.Has lots of traffic. Thanks

Seriously if you want to start a business selling stuff without spending any money at all your best bet may be Ebay and some of the other auction sites. Depending on your niche there may also be an auction or classified site that is very specific to the market you want to target so some searching is in order.

An internet business unlike the way its advertised … is just like having a regular business with the internet as a sales and operational tool.

Your question should be … what kind of business should I start? What product or service will I sell? Who will my customers be? Why are my customers comming to me and not my compitition?

How do I start and Internet business?

Monday Oct 26, 2009

I have a few ideas for an iternet business. My question is where to start. First I need a website. Where is the best place to do that. How do big companies start, like ebay or myspace. how did they get there website initially. These websites were not always huge. I know more than average about computers, but the internet is not my strong point so I just looking for the best route to take. Then I will look into those options.

Thank You

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you’re interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Starting an Online Business For Dummies, 4th Edition by Greg Holden
* How to Start and Maintain A Successful Online Business by Kelly Thornton
* The Complete E-Commerce Book: Design, Build, and Maintain a Successful Web-Based Business by Janice Reynolds

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

how to undertake a successful Internet business?

Sunday Oct 18, 2009

I have completed my MBA program just two months back.I really like to do internet business but i have got very little knowledge about Web designing and hosting. Please help me, how can i really excel in this kind of business?

Well "virtual reality" means ALMOST as good as reality. So dont make it so confusing. Put it in real world terms and that will get you a long way toward knowing what questions you need to ask.

MBA excellent.
Internet business = business
Web Designing = carpentry
Hosting = real estate

So its as if you are saying that you want to start downtown business but dont know carpentry and real estate. True, it helps to know those. But if you dont then what do you do? You hire someone. It can be anyone from a high school kid to an expert (with pricing to match). Both have little to do with business knowledge. Think of web designing as shop layout. Important yes, but not something that YOU have to know.

Something else you might run into:
SEO=marketing (search engine optimization). The same basic rules as if it was real world marking apply as far as doing it yourself, buying it, or hiring an expert.

Also the same on internet and real world. Dont expect to make money doing nothing. It happens but only about as often as it does in the real world. Basically, put in chore time and make chore money. Put in half time and get a halftime paycheck. Fulltime = fulltime pay. Double time to make the big bucks. Anyone offering anything else is likely ripping you off.

As for WHAT to do, Id advise picking a subject you know, or want to know. Something you feel you can sell. Anything that makes your buddies cringe when somene mentions it because you tend to get carried away with the subject works well. Whatever xxxxxx is, post a new question asking how you can build an internet business about xxxxxx.
